Are You Seeing Red In Your 2008 Wedding?
The great thing about a heart theme wedding is that supplies are plentiful. You can find heart candles, heart candies, heart invitations etc. But, you don’t have to stop there.
Give your guests a custom package of deck cards with instructions on how to play the game hearts (hearts is a trick taking game in which the object is to avoid winning tricks containing hearts). Or even set up an area for individuals to lounge (smoke cigars - not sure if smoking is allowed anywhere anymore though....) and play a few games of hearts.
Or instead of giving away a favor to your guests, make a donation to the Heart and Stroke foundation instead.
And the color. Red is hot. It is one of the biggest color trends for 2008.
Red is the color of love/passion. Roll out a red carpet for your guests; the “red carpet treatment” is a way to make your guests feel special or like a celebrity.
If doing your whole reception in red makes you “seeing red” than consider just adding bursts of red throughout the venue such as scattering red roses throughout the venue or on the tabletops.
Or mix red with softer colors such as pinks, yellows or purples. Consider a bouquet of pink roses mixed with single red roses throughout it.
If your wedding is going to be the “greatest party” of the year – than let your guests “paint the town red” at your wedding. Instead of having a guest book, set up a paint station and let your guests paint a red heart with their signature on a large poster board. You can then frame the poster and display it in your home as a constant reminder of your wedding.
And of course, if red is going to be your color – make sure you take the “red eye” flight that night to your honeymoon destination.

Going Green...the hottest trend for 2008...
Not only is this environmentally friendly, it will save you money plus your guests will be given an opportunity to privately contribute to a keepsake you'll have for the rest of your life.
It's cool - friends and family invited to the wedding simply call a toll-free number, hear a personal greeting from you, and leave you a meaningful message. All the messages are recorded and sent to you on a CD. It's that easy!
Some couples ask their guests to RSVP in a creative way by using the LifeOnRecord phone number, and at the same time leave a story. It's fun and interactive for your guests, and it's environmentally friendly because it saves you the cost of reply cards, envelopes and return postage!
With LifeOnRecord, guests are given an opportunity to privately contribute to a keepsake you'll have for the rest of your life. Guests feel honored to participate, and you'll get to preserve the heartfelt thoughts and feelings of your family and friends.
You'll capture the emotion that you don’t get when you read words written on a page, and you'll get the meaningful thoughts and stories you don't get from a wedding video. The recordings become even more special to you as time passes.
LifeOnRecord captures everyone's perspective of this time in your life in a way nothing else can. Wedding couples have said that they cherish their LifeOnRecord recordings more than any other keepsake from their wedding.
Check it out...even if your not into a complete green wedding - even little steps can make a difference in our planet!

Dreaming Up A Theme...
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and a celebration of the life and legacy of a man who brought hope and healing to America. He spoke one of the most famous words in American history..."I have a dream".
Let us celebrate the man, the day and the dream today!
My friends joke with me that when I dream - it must have a theme as I constantly theme everything! Our house (African Theme), birthday parties, anniversary's - about anything I do has to have a theme! Before I got into the wedding market, I worked in the oilfield industry in marketing. Here I was to create and promote events for the company - and - yes - you guessed it - I themed the events.
So...it was no surprise to my husband, when I told him we needed to theme one of his websites. He had a Marketing Reminder website that we took and created a remarkable new product - the 2008 Marketing & Promotional Calendar.
We are getting huge response from this theme related product. Just today we got a write-up in the National Post (to read the story click here..)
This is a great gift for any entrepreneur, marketing guru, writer, blogger, etc. as it gives you tons of different ideas on what to write about or promote for everyday!
I also got to thinking what a great idea for weddings!
Sometimes you just can't think of what type of theme you want to use...or your just lost in bringing together a color you like? And I think the calendar has some solutions if you are one of these people such as:
Saturday. June 21, 2008 is Watermelon Seed Spitting Day - if this happens to be your wedding day - what a great idea to do your wedding around watermelons. Watermelon is known as a quintessential treat on hot summer days; they are known as sweet, juicy, bright and fun so use this context for your theme!
- Your centerpieces are easily done with watermelons (they can be carved into anything!). Or even just half them, carve them out and add your flowers.
- Place water fountains around the venue and put dynamic red food coloring in the fountains
- Your Menu is easily done from Watermelon Shirley Temples, Watermelon Salads & you can also create Watermelon Relishes to go with your entree.
- The ideas are endless... in Unique Theme Weddings - The Dazzling July 4th - has some great ideas to accompany this "picnic" type of theme wedding.
OR.....
Saturday, August 9, 2008 is National Polka Festival Day. Here - I would use Polka Dots for my theme. You can find tons of wedding related items such as below:

polka dots organza bags

Personalized Satin Dots Favor Ribbons
Every wedding date as a story!
And if you live in my world - everything & anything can be themed!
Oh - I could go on and on....but as it's a holiday today....Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

No Red Carpets This Year? I Don't Think So...
Poor Hollywood Stars. No Red Carpets & Glam Parties. Depending if the writer strike keeps going...
Oh well - your the star this year anyhow!
And what a great time to roll out the red carpet for your event. Think of diamonds, top hats and tuxedos. This wedding lights up the night and lets people know that stars and love is in the air. Your guests are sure to love this remarkable and stunning wedding. Depending on your style - you can also dress this theme up or down. For centerpieces, fill popcorn boxes with flowers (try using large flamboyant blooming flowers) and place bottles of champagnes around the boxes. Alternatively, fill a large bowl or platter with popcorn and place a vase in the middle with a single blooming flower.
Even if Hollywood isn't your style - this Sensational Hollywood Theme gives you tons of examples on how to throw a one-night performance staring you and your fiancé!

Dancing Like The Stars....A Continuing Wedding Trend
You and your fiancé are the stars of your wedding, so wouldn't you like to dance like stars?
It's become quite the trend for First Dances to be spectacular (not like you need more pressure or anything).
But, people have gone to extreme entertainment (one couple did Michael Jackson's Thriller!). It was put on YouTube last year and was viewed by 4,975,249 people!
But if your not into going to extreme's, all you need to learn are a few (very!) simple elements that you can easily learn at home, and a way to combine them in a simple system that will have you looking fabulous on that dance floor - fast!
Mary Pinizzotto has been teaching dance since 1990. She has taught hundreds of people to dance for their weddings. She has taken all she has learned as a dance professional and turned into a fun, easy way for you to move as one and impress all your friends and family with your first wedding dance.
Or if it's time to get out of the house - check your local community listings for dancing lessons. It's a great activity for both of you & lots of fun!
